BINACOM Selected for International Film Festival in Cuba

The Binational Assocation of Schools of Communication has been selected to present student films and videos at the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema. The 22nd Annual Festival will take place in Havana, Cuba December 5-15th, 2000 and will feature films and videos from all over the world, particularly Latin America and Spain.

BINACOM institutions include student works from Universidad Iberoamericana in Tijuana, San Diego City College, Southwestern College, and San Diego State University. The BINACOM program will be presented on December 12th in the Hall of the Foundation of New Latin American Cinema in downtown Havana. The program will also be presented at the International School of Cinema and Television, an important academic project of the Foundation, located in San Antonio de los Banos, 35 kilometers outside of Havana.

The purpose of the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema is to "promote and award those works whose significance and artistic values contribute to enrich and reaffirm the Latin American and Caribbean cultural identity." The Festival will include meetings and various aspects of cultural interest and a representative selection from the international film community.
